A smart and splurgeworthy model
This Breville smart oven and air fryer is definitely a big financial investment, but it is well worth it. It features 11 cooking functions and smart technology that will tailor the interior's environment to whatever you're making. It's quick and versatile, allowing you to toast, bake, broil, roast, warm, air fry, reheat, slow cook and more. Highly-rated and popular among avid home cooks, this beauty looks as good on your counter as it makes delicious meals.
Promising review: "I’ve had probably half a dozen countertop toaster ovens in my lifetime. The Breville is a quantum leap in quality and functionality over any other countertop oven. The controls are easy to understand and use and provide smart settings for everything from basic toast to reheating foods to pizza (frozen or fresh) and many others. But all of the smart settings can be adjusted to your individual preferences, including time and temperature. The convection oven does a great job of quick and even heating. The results on our favorite take and bake pizza were excellent! We’re still experimenting with the air fryer but our first experience with frozen tater tots was great. A guide on the glass door shows you the level to set the rack for various types of cooking. I think the Breville oven is one of those products where you get what you pay for." — El Dorado Dave
A lavender air fryer that’s “aesthetically pleasing enough” to live on our editor’s countertop
Another drool-worthy option is this six-quart bucket fryer, recommended by HuffPost editor Lindsay Holmes from Drew Barrymore's home goods collection, Beautiful. "It's powerful, a great size, affordable and perhaps best of all aesthetically pleasing enough to be a fixture on my kitchen counter," said Holmes.
Noting that her last air fryer was bulky, loud and a "pain" to drag in and out of her cabinet, she says this one is big enough to cook everything she needs, without dominating the kitchen. It also lives happily out on display.
This modern, touch-screen option can air fry, roast, reheat or dehydrate. It comes in a bunch of fun colors and can make up to two pounds of French fries.

Promising review: "So easy to use and clean. Great Fryer for sure. So easy to operate and clean. I use liners and it does a great job especially with clean up. Has all the functionality you need. Have cooked several meals with it and it does the job. This is a must product especially if you can’t have a grill where you live. You will experiment with it and the pause ability lets you make sure you don’t overdo a meal. Touch screen is nice and the basket is large enough for us. I reheated wings and they turned out crispy and like new. You will love having this item. Highly recommend." — Melinda Dent

Shopping writer Tessa Flores says she was mainly drawn to the Wonder Oven "because it looks so good and was an appliance I would actually enjoy displaying on my kitchen shelf." After finally making the purchase plunge, she confirms the performance matches the appearance. There's literally no warm-up time compared to a traditional oven."

A compact model from the biggest name in tiny appliances
Available in four cute colors, this air fryer is as good-looking as it is effective — and it comes from Dash, an appliance brand that’s known for diminutive and functional cooking tools. Its small footprint makes it ideal for tiny kitchens and limited counter space, while the 2-quart fry basket makes it possible to feed a people quickly and easily. It has an auto-shutoff for safety and to avoid overcooking and will whip up delicious confections with ease. It's simple, easy and super versatile.
Promising review: "I’ve used air fryers before and always thought they have high utility and function, but they’re so bulky and kind of hideous so I didn’t want to buy one myself. I thought the Dash would be cute but probably not super functional. I was WRONG on the second count. It is cute and it’s not huge - to be clear, I would say it’s best suited for one person portions. But, it is extremely easy to use, the color is nice (gray), it’s not particularly loud especially compared to other air fryers, it’s got the versatility and function of full sized air fryers, is easy to clean, and the size is manageable if you want to leave it on the counter. I wish I had bought it sooner." — Sarah

Senior editor Noah Michelson likes this Toshiba air fryer/microwave as a good-looking option that doesn't hog the counter. Unlike some others on our list, Michelson isn't head over heels for this machine but says it's a solid option for people with limited space. "I started using this to prepare healthier meals after being diagnosed with type-2 diabetes and the various functionalities ensure that I'm never bored with my somewhat restrictive diet. I can't remember the last time I prepared a meal that didn't utilize my Ninja Foodi in some capacity."
If you like the sear and sizzle of food on the grill, this option gives you all of that safely indoors. The 5-in-1 design has a 4-quart crisper basket that can also bake, roast and dehydrate your food.
A Hamilton Beach hybrid air fryer with a ton of interior space
The ultra-roomy interior of this combination air fryer and toaster oven can fit a whopping 5-pound chicken, so you can feed your entire family with minimal effort. This unit has easy-t-use customizable controls with five modes that allow you to air fry, bake, convection bake or toast. It comes with an air fry basket, bake pan, broil rack, oven rack and front slide-out crumb tray.
Promising review: "I've had other toaster ovens and they were basically not very good. This one is excellent. It's compact but still fits a 12 inch pizza. Comes with a couple of different basket, pan, grills to cook on. Easy to clean. Cooks frozen fries and other items in less time than the food packaging says it will take. It does everything I need and replaces almost everything I used to cook in a regular oven." — Amazon customer
A combo Cusinart air fryer that keeps a novice cook fed
Another multi-faceted toaster oven and air fryer, shopping write Erica Kam likes this 7-in-1 option from Cuisinart. "I’m a novice cook and this thing makes sure I get fed most of the time," she said. "I can reheat leftovers, heat up frozen meals and even hardboil eggs with just a few twists of the dials. It’s also so convenient for smaller portions and limited counter space. As someone living in a tiny studio apartment, I probably would’ve passed on a separate air fryer if I had just bought a toaster oven, so I love that this does it all."
This baby can air fry, grill, toast, bake, broil and warm. The brand says it's whisper-quiet with a non-stick, easy-clean interior. It's big enough to toast six slices of bread, three pounds of chicken wings, a 12-inch pizza or a 4-pound chicken at a time.
Heads up: Kam's recommended pick is still currently available at Target, but the model has been discontinued. That said, Cuisinart makes an updated model that we'll also put on your radar later on in this list. Bonus: It's on sale right now!
This 11-in-1 air fryer that reviewers say is ideal for small spaces
Featuring 11 cooking functions including rotisserie, pizza, proof, toast, air fry and more, this Cosori air fryer might just replace all your other kitchen gadgets and accessories. it features a whopping 13-quart interior that heats up and cooks food quickly while reducing oil usage for healthier meals. It includes a rotisserie basket, fork, air fry tray and other accessories so you can make whatever your heart desires with ease.
Promising review: "We were looking for a multifunction toaster oven to replace our giant 15 year old countertop oven. This one is small enough to fit in our galley kitchen with limited counter space, but enough power to match our old one! This is our first air fryer and so far it crisps up food nicely. The toast function also browns the bread really well (our old one left the bread crispy but pale). It’s just two of us so the quantity of food it fits is sufficient. I imagine it would be a little hard to cook food for a larger family. We haven’t used the rotisserie function for chicken yet but I’m excited about it. The outside doesn’t get super hot, which is great because everything in our kitchen is so close together and the oven comes almost right up to the underside of the cabinets. Overall, easy to use with clear directions and great functionality so far!" — GL
